Restricted breeds

As part of the code of practice of operating a day care facility the following breeds are not permitted at Waggy Tails:

  • American Pit Bull Terrier, Fila Braziliero, (aka Brazilian Mastiff),Japanese Tosa (aka Japanese Mastiff)
  • Dogo Argentina (aka Argentinean Mastiff), Presa Canario

we are unable to accept the following breeds

🐾 At Waggy Tails, the safety, happiness, and wellbeing of every dog in our care is always our top priority.

Our daycare is a busy, social environment where dogs spend their day playing, interacting, and sharing space with lots of furry friends. While every dog is unique and many breeds make incredible family companions, some dogs are simply better suited to different environments than the fast-paced, close-contact nature of group daycare.

Due to the group nature of our daycare, dogs with strong prey drives, guarding instincts, and catch-breed traits are not suited to our playgroup environment. With this in mind, and based on our experience within our specific daycare setting, we are unable to accept the following breeds into our daycare program:

• American Staffordshire Terrier
• Cane Corso
• American Bulldog
• Akita Inu
• Maremma Sheepdog
• Doberman Pinscher
• Belgian Malinois

This decision is not a reflection of these breeds as pets—we know many are loving, loyal, and wonderful companions. Rather, it's about ensuring that all dogs in our care are placed in an environment where they can feel comfortable, relaxed, and set up for success.

If your pup falls into one of the breeds listed above, we'd be more than happy to help point you towards alternative care options that may be a better fit for their individual needs. 🐶💕

SOME BREEDS ARE NOT always SUITABLE FOR DAYCARE

🐾 At Waggy Tails, we want every pup to feel safe, happy, and set up for success in our busy, social environment.

Some breeds can become a little overstimulated in high-energy group play, which means daycare may not always be the right fit for every dog without the right foundation and training.

For the following breeds, we require dogs to be well socialised, have started training from a young age, and ideally completed advanced obedience training:

• German Shepherd
• Rottweiler

We also ask for a letter from your training provider confirming the level of training your dog has completed.

This helps us ensure every dog in our care is confident, well-prepared, and able to enjoy a positive daycare experience alongside their furry friends 🐶✨
